Strangers

Forget what your parents taught you. Talk to strangers. I love talking to strangers. I once heard somewhere that strangers are just friends we haven’t met yet - I couldn’t agree more. Did you know that a mere moment of eye contact between strangers could have a lasting impact in each other’s lives? When you dream, your subconscious mind is not able fabricate people and places; it can only draw images from your own memory. Every single face you’ve ever dreamed up belongs to someone whose path you once crossed, whether you remember it or not. When you first set your eyes on someone, drop all your preconceived notions about whom this person might be. You’d be surprised to see just how deceiving looks can actually be.
The most fascinating thing about a stranger to me is their story. Every single person has a lifetime worth of unique and fascinating experiences that they’ve been through that we can all learn from. Listen to their story and be sure to share yours. And no, I don’t mean strike up conversation with any other creep roaming through the streets in the middle of the night. I mean talk to the shy girl who’s been sitting next to you in class all year long whose name you still don’t know. Introduce yourself, be her friend. Fear is the only thing that makes strangers of people who would be friends.
I believe every single person you come into contact with during this lifetime enters your life for a very specific reason - whether it’s a glimpse, a lifetime or for a full season. They all have something distinct to offer you. In most cases it’s some sort of life lesson that you must eventually extract on your own through hindsight. The greatest gift a person can ever give you is their time because that's a moment of their life they can never get back. Cherish it. Do not hold on to people past their time. Once you’ve both taken in whatever it is that you had to offer one another, it’s time to move on and make room for new strangers and friends. Keep in mind we were all once strangers before we turned into friends.
